Shortcut Romeo Movie Review-In Short:

An unscrupulous young man starts blackmailing the unfaithful wife of a business tycoon, paving the way for a cat-and-mouse game between the characters of the film.

Shortcut Romeo Movie Review-Verdict:

Though the film has its share of twists and turns, it doesn't join the ranks of other classy and slick thrillers.

Shortcut Romeo Movie Review-Story Plot:

Suraj (Neil Nitin Mukesh) is a con-man, who is always on the lookout for one big score. When he spots the wealthy Monica getting down and dirty with a golf pal, Suraj captures the moment and starts blackmailing her into financing his lavish lifestyle.

However, Monica is not a shrinking violet either and though she complies with his demands, she also sets in motion a plan to get back at Suraj for disrupting her life. Meanwhile, Suraj meets and falls in love with Sherry (Puja Gupta) while on a financed vacation to Kenya.

So will love transform this 'bad boy'? Watch the movie to find out...

Shortcut Romeo Movie Review-Performances:

Neil Nitin Mukesh has made a career out of playing dark and edgy characters and with this film, he takes one step forward. His wicked grin, the steely glint in his eyes when he blackmails Monica and his nasty sneer makes him the kind of characters one loves to hate. Ameesha Patel as the unfaithful wife Monica is decent enough whereas Puja is quite easy on the eyes, though she doesn't get to do much in way of acting.

Shortcut Romeo Movie Review-Direction:

A remake of Susi Ganesh's South flick, Shortcut Romeo is one of the few films where the male lead is so deliciously bad that inserting a villain in the film would have been overkill. The movie has been shot quite well though at times, it feels as if the director is focusing more on the locales than on the plot. The cat-and-mouse game will keep you on the edge of your seat for sure and the action scenes, specially the one featuring the African tribals, are a visual delight.

However, on the flip side, the film doesn't have that edginess that one associates with thrillers such as Neil's debut Johnny Gaddaar and the songs serve no other purpose than interfering with the plot.

Shortcut Romeo Movie Review-Final Word: If you are a Neil Nitin Mukesh fan and a thriller junkie, go for this one...
