Jawani Diwani is a romantic comedy, where Emraan Hashmi plays the role of a struggling singer. Tiku Talsania is the owner of a top music company, and Hrishitaa Bhatt plays his only daughter. Emraan Hashmi ?manages? to make Hrishitaa fall in love with him, and Tiku agrees to their marriage and also to bring out Emraan?s album. Emraan goes to Goa to celebrate with his friends, where Celina Jaitley who is a model, is shooting for a music video.
There is a mutual attraction between Emraan and Celina and they indulge in a one-night stand, but Mahesh Manjrekar who plays a don, catches them. He forces Emraan to marry Celina and stay in Goa. Emraan?s career is obviously shattered, but seeing his unhappiness, Celina gives Emraan a divorce, and he returns to Mumbai.
Things take a better shape for him as seeing the divorce papers, Hrishitaa forgives him, and he is able to record his album. But the irony comes about as Celina is engaged for acting in the video, and they are thrown in together again in Mauritius, where the video is shot. Here Emraan realizes that he is in love with Celina, but he knows he can?t give up Hrishitaa.
Production values are excellent, and cinematographer, Rajeev Srivastav has captured the locations of Goa and Mauritius beautifully. Sajid-Wajid?s music is the highlight of the film, where the theme song, ?Dil ko tadpati hai? and ?Tere ishq mein? are among the best of the lot.
The movie is high on ?light entertainment?, where the pace too suits the flow of the movie. But the drawback comes in because of a thin storyline and lack of a theme.Performance-wise, it is Emraan Hashnmi?s film and he easily dominates. Celina Jaitley looks bewitching and does her best. Hrishitaa Bhatt is just fair. Tiku Talsania, Shehzad Khan and Mushtaq Khan provide able support. As the director, Manish Sharma has done a good job.
