Hotstar special brings the first season of Human, a highly dramatic series that explores grotty and dark secrets behind the noble profession. All of us already know how helpful medical servants are to our society and in the past two years (since the pandemic hit us hard), we realized it even better. Some people even worship the doctors, and rightly so, but what are all of them the same? No. There are some dark secrets, some mind-shattering conspiracies and scams hidden behind those closed doors of hospitals and labs which common people don't know. Even considering the government hospitals for the same, there are always some shocking headlines on the news once in a while. Hotstar's latest web series Human is based on a marathon journey of the same. It unveils those money-spinning ideas that we are unaware of and how these brutal experiments harm poor people's lives.publive-imageHuman is a medical thriller which exposes scary secrets of the medical and pharma corporate World. It shows how poor people become victims of the trials of vaccines without their knowledge. At the same time it runs on a dramatic path, which includes the personal lives of the doctors, businessmen and politicians. When dark secrets of the medical world are revealed, will the brave live to expose the truth or be consumed in a dangerous web of lies and deception? Human serves justice to all, yes it does, but it takes too long and also focuses too much on dramatic elements that are completely unnecessary and out of the context. It is supposed to be a medical thriller but it isn't just that. There is so much drama, romance, conspiracies, sexual problems, drugs, trafficking, relationship issues, deceit, money rackets, internal affairs and what not. Does that really belong to Medical world? NO, not by far. It's okay to add a little bit of drama and romance but making every single character complicated with different complexities is not okay. It's a single narrative, not an anthology, right? You may go on scratching your head at the end, realizing that you wasted three fourths of the time watching something which was far away from the main context. What's sexual identity or extramarital affairs or mythological or historical references have got to do with the medical scams? It's totally useless.publive-imageTalking about performances, Human must have been very lucky to have got such a talented team. Whatever writing faults you dislike about the series are recovered by the stellar cast. Kirti Kulhari and Shefali Shah lead from the front and have put up a great, long show out there. All the 10 episodes have these two playing the main parts and what fantastic performers these two are. With Human, Kirti has got one of the most remarkable roles ever while Shefali adds yet another memorable character in her terrific filmography (as an actor). The young brigade is on fire too. Vishal Jethwa surprises again and this time with a killer accent. Aditya Srivastava, Ram Kapoor and Seema Biswas aren't the lead but they are pivotal roles that couldn't have been possible for others. publive-imageWeb Series is a big challenge as well as a big opportunity for any filmmaker. It's just that some understand the needs and potential of it and excel, while others use it for something else. Human could have been a sensational thriller, or moreover a drama because nothing is actually thrilling here. Given the fact that you need to include additional features around the main context to carry the narrative for 400 or plus minutes, one cannot go with wrong measurements. With Human, the screenwriter fails to keep it close to the main issue with digressive vision. It takes too long to come to the point because it never realizes what it is trying to achieve. Yes, it's okay to show some dishonest characters but not if we have been asked to feel sorry for them. There's not a single character which looks decent enough to generate that sympathy in you and that's the biggest loss here. When justice is served at the end, it is too late to gather feelings because after all it's a 'Human' story. However, Vipul Amrutlal Shah and Mozez Singh find a getaway from this mess and thankfully concludes it just the way you wished. Overall, Human is brutal about showing those horrifying facts and it even goes on to display many unbearable images for that, but only to make you believe the seriousness of the topic. This intense drama about the grotty facts of noble profession is definitely watchable for the beautiful performances of all the actors.publive-image
