Good Newwz Movie Review: Good Newwz Delivered!

It seems that the year will end with a bang for Bollywood as Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani’s Good Newwz is here and this feel good movie is surely going to receive a lot of love from the audiences.

The story revolves around a sophisticated couple, Deepti and Varun Batra, who are childless even after seven years of marriage. Deepti is desperate for a child and when she fails to conceive naturally, they opt for IVF.

However, their world turns upside down when they come to know that Varun’s ‘spam’ has been exchanged with Honey Batra’s. So now Deepti is pregnant with Honey’s child, while Honey’s wife Monika is pregnant with Varun’s. The two couples are as different as chalk and cheese and what happens when they come to know about this mix up forms the rest of the plot.

The story is very simple and predictable but the execution is good. The film looks fresh, the concept is new and it’s very engaging. You don’t get bored even once and it keeps you hooked right till the end.

It’s good to see Akshay in a light-hearted family comedy and his comic timing is bang on. He is looking uber hot and his performance is outstanding. Kareena Kapoor Khan is fantastic as Deepti and though her character is not very strong, she makes the most of it and impresses the hell out of you.

Diljit Dosanjh is a natural and he makes you laugh out loud every time he comes on screen. Kiara Advani’s character is very weak but she is looking cute and is earnest. However, both Kiara and Diljit’s characters are very loud and clichéd. Adil Hussain and Tisca Chopra are also good in their roles .

This film makes you laugh and though the jokes aren’t extraordinary, the actors save them with their comic timing. The emotional scenes are very strong and I saw several people in the audience, shedding a tear or two.

The film does have its weaknesses too. Like the story itself isn’t very convincing and they could have easily done away with the songs. Also some sequences have been stretched a lot and after sometime they stop being funny, instead they annoy you.

Cinematography is good and the screenplay is crisp. Had the screenplay been bad, this film would have turned out to be a damp squib. Dialogues are nice and the background score is peppy.

Overall I quite enjoyed this movie and it’s the perfect film to watch with you family and friends as the year comes to an end. Good Newwz is a feel good film, which will warm up the cockles of your heart.
