Malamaal Weekly is a comedy based on the theme of a winning lottery ticket with a village backdrop, where Paresh Rawal plays a lottery dealer. Om Puri plays a milkman, and Reemma is his only daughter. Riteish Deshmukh works as a servant for Om Puri, and is in love with Reemma, and always wants to be around her. Sudha Chandran is the tyrant landlady of the village, and Rajpal Yadav is her arrogant brother. Rajpal is Riteish?s rival, because they both are after Reemma. Once Paresh Rawal hears on TV that a ticket sold by him has won the cash prize of one crore rupees! He wants to get hold of the ticket, so that he can claim the gift for himself. He has sold 105 tickets. Now in order to acquire the ticket, he invites the village over for dinner, but on the condition that only those who brought the lottery ticket from him, were invited! The number of people who turn up are 104. Paresh realises that that the 105th person, is the village drunkard who has the winning ticket, but who did not attend the dinner. Paresh rushes to his house, only to discover that the man had died of an elated shock of winning so much money! When Paresh Rawal gets hold of the ticket and calls the company he discovers that the dead man had already informed them of him being the winner. What?s more, he had also informed the creditors in the village that he had won the money and will pay off their debts. What follows is a hilarious maze of events.

Production values are good, and performance-wise, Paresh Rawal and Asrani are the highlights of the film. But as a director, we have seen Priyadarshan do better than this. Our suggestion: You can go watch it if you have nothing better lined up!
