Lets hope this is the season's last of the 'inspired' flicks. Bluffmaster, 'inspired' from The Sting and Do Aur Do Paanch, stars Abhishek Bachchan who plays a conman. Though sincere about his feelings for Priyanka Chopra, at their engagement, his antics are exposed, and when Priyanka realises his true profession, she walks out on the engagement and leaves Abhishek devastated. Riteish plays another con-guy, but is not as street smart as Abhishek, and takes on to working under him to learn the tricks of the trade better.
After a drinking bout, Abhishek faints, and is examined by a doctor (Boman Irani) who tells him that he is suffering from brain cancer and has only three months to live, which works as a blessing in disguise for him somewhere, as Priyanka is reconciled with Abhishek when she comes to know of his condition.
Riteish has his own sob story to share with Abhishek, and he tells him about his aggrieved condition which was brought about at the hands of Nana Patekar. He (Nana Patekar) plays a character who was Riteish's father's business partner, and had cheated on him, landing Riteish on the road. So now his ultimate 'mission' is to take revenge on Nana, with the only glitch being that Nana Patekar happens to be a powerful gangster.
Where production values are good, Himman Dhamija's cinematography is simply brilliant. But the music in spite of having a good tempo and an appeal for the youth has no hit number.
The film has moments of entertainment in some scenes, but the trouble is with the script, which has far too many loopholes.
Performance-wise, Abhishek Bachchan has managed to pull off a challenging role very well. Riteish too does a good job, and Nana Patekar scores with his mere presence
