New Update

Mixed Doubles is a tale which revolves around wife swapping. Ranvir Shorey and Konkona Sen Sharma play a couple, who are married for ten years and have a son. They live a comfortable middle class life. The trouble is that the spark has gone out of their love life as Ranvir Shorey is not able to do his conjugal duty despite all the initiatives by his wife. Ranvir?s America based friend comes for a visit and he tells Ranvir that wife swapping is the secret of his good health and happiness. Ranvir gets in touch with the ?swinger? couple Rajat Kapoor and Koel Purie and fixes an evening with them. Konkona is against the idea, but he succeeds in persuading her. What happens next? Go find out!

It is a bold theme to tackle, but the treatment is too mild. It has its funny moments, more so in the second half. The ambiguous climax is a let down.

Performance-wise, Ranvir Shorey impresses with his remarkably subdued and sensitive portrayal. He got a good opportunity and justifies his selection. Konkona Sen Sharma is expectedly natural and lives the role. Koel Purie gets a meaty role and she thoroughly enjoys doing it and delights the audience. Rajat Kapoor is good.As the director, Rajat Kapoor shows his competence in extracting good performances from actors, but he is let down by his own poor script.
