3G Movie Review-In Short: A couple on a vacation in Fiji is haunted by a mysterious spirit after they buy a second hand mobile phone…

3G Movie Review-Verdict: Except for a couple of scenes, which might jolt the viewer, there is nothing really that impresses you.

3G Movie Review-Story Plot: Sam (Neil Nitin Mukesh) and Sheena (Sonal Chauhan) are very much in love (which can be seen from the way they coo ‘baby’ and ‘honey’ at each other). While on a vacation to Fiji, Sam ends up dropping his mobile phone in the water and buys a second-hand mobile phone from a shop.

The very same night, Sam starts getting mysterious phone calls and a video about a woman being murdered. Though Sam does not take it seriously at first, it becomes apparent that there is some dark power at work here. Sam and Sheena then set out to find the identity of the mysterious woman in the mobile video and come across a sordid tale of lust, love and betrayal.

3G Movie Review-Performances: Neil Nitin Mukesh might look good on screen, but the lad still has a long way to go as far as performances are concerned. However, it is evident that the actor has put in a decent try. Sonal Chauhan might elicit some whistles as she prances around in a swimsuit, but that’s about it. Mrinalini Sharma as the mysterious woman/ghost is not really scary except in a couple of scenes (and the make-up artistes deserve kudos for that)

3G Movie Review-Direction: After horror stories involving haunted houses or ‘purani havelis’, a ghost story set against the backdrop of technology is a refreshing change. However, in the absence of a strong plot, the film falls flat on its face. The director duo Sheershak and Shantanu go to the extent of linking the ‘mobile’ ghost story to some symbol from the Greek mythology, succeeding in confusing the viewer about what exactly is going on. If that was not enough, the film also tries to get a tad moralistic and send across a message at the end, which was really not needed. If you are making a horror story, just stick to the chills and thrills, people…

3G Movie Review-Final Word: If you are eager to drool over Neil Nitin Mukesh in a leather jacket or Sonal Chauan in skimpy dresses, go for 3G…otherwise, give it a miss.
