Antim: The Final Truth starring Salman Khan, Aayush Sharma and Mahima Makwana is all set to hit the screens this Friday. The film is an adaptation of Marathi Hit Mulshi Pattern (2018), which completes 3 years of its release today (23rd November). Before the film’s release, Superstar Salman Khan, who plays a Sikh Cop in the action-drama, had a chitchat with media people and shared some exciting details.
Beginning with how the film happened, he told, “A DOP came to us with the plot of Antim. It was only the plot, from which they developed the film. I watched the film and loved the character of the cop. So I thought of looking at this film from the perspective of the cop. When I got a chance to see it, I told Mahesh, ‘Why did they leave the cop’s character like that?’ It was about that other boy and it became an eccentric film. It is about two guys, one becomes goon because his farm is lost and the other one becomes Cop for the same reason. So it has two sides.”
We have seen Salman Khan playing a cop many times. He played a cop in films like Garv, Wanted, Dabangg series and recently in Radhe. Talking about how different this character of Sikh Cop is, he shared, “I did think about it but I liked this subject very much. It was stuck in my head. I could not play this character like Dabangg. Otherwise, I would be left doing Dabangg only, No? This is a different film altogether. It’s a different screenplay. My character is very bound; he is very Indian and rugged, intense. He doesn’t yell or shout, he is very focused on what he is doing. Even if he has to sacrifice a person, he will do it for what is right. This is what I liked about this character. In the Marathi film (Mulshi Pattern), they just had 4-5 scenes of him but I saw a big potential there.”
About the additional charges made from the original Marathi flick, Salman Khan revealed, “I took that plot and made a new film out of it. My character is different this time. The fans will like it. There are all those facets of (all Salman Khan elements for his fans) but it is finally what my director wanted. Pravin Tarde made a very good film but it was a small budget film and here we have made a big film. It’s much bigger.”
“It is larger than life film, but more realistic. Here, there is a certain type of character. You have all the dialogues, but it is just that this character looked best alone so we didn’t have anyone with him. The only place where he has danced is on ‘Bhai Ka birthday’. I think people will like this character more,” he added.
Collaborating again with Mahesh Manjrekar has been a delightful experience for the actor. Praising this all-rounder, Salman said, “Mahesh is damn good! I envy this guy. He acts, directs, does photography, painting, he does it all, he even cooks very good food. What food he makes! He’s Fighter! He beat cancer and shooting with him during the pandemic felt like nothing. It was so normal.”
As we can see in the trailer, Antim: The Final Truth has a powerful protagonist who is set up against a dangerous gangster. People have been asking whether it is a two-hero film or what? Salman clarified, “Everyone is saying this is Aayush’s film. Aayush is in the film, but ‘picture Paji ki hi hai’. It is a film where one wants to be a hero and one is already a hero”.
