Padmini's major ambition is to see her son make his debut as a full fledged actor in Hindi cinema.
She is very unhappy about how her husband's career as a producer has been faring over the years. She also admits to being quite concerned about her sister Tejaswani, who she insists is a better actress than her.
She started a school for acting in Hindi films in London, but her efforts failed and she had to shut down the school.

Padmini Kolhapure was born the younger daughter of a musician, Pandari Nath Kolhapure and her mother, a pretty lady who had tried her luck in films, but had to settle for a job with Air India. Her sister Shivangi is married to the villain Shakti Kapoor. They are closely related to the Mangeshkars, but have never taken advantage of the name.
