Nanda was a child star who had a strong screen presence and whom women recognised as one of them. Born in 1941 to actor parents, she did films like 'Mandir' and 'Diya Aur Toofan' as a child. After growing up, she became an intense actress and always stole the limelight.
As a grown actress, Nanda did many films like 'Bhabhi', 'Chhoti Behen', 'Aanchal', 'Aaj Aur Kal', 'Aashiq', 'Hum Dono', 'Jab Jab Phool Khile', 'Gumnaam', 'Itefaaq', 'The Train' and 'Joru Ka Ghulam'. Some of her co-stars were top heroes like Shashi Kapoor, Sanjay Khan, Manoj Kumar and Rajesh Khanna. But she soon had a change of image with films like 'Naya Nasha' and 'Itefaaq' where she played the role of a junkie and a killer. Then she also did some character roles as in 'Aahista Aahista' and 'Prem Rog'. She's still around doing good motherly roles.
