Born on November 13, 1967, Juhi Chawla is perhaps one of the bubbliest and most actresses to be seen on the Hindi film screen in the last two decades. A former Miss India, she made her acting debut in Sultanat in 1986. But she received recognition when she starred opposite Aamir Khan in Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak.
Incidentally, it was Aamir's debut as a leading man and Mansoor Khan's debut as director. She went on to star in quite a few movies with Aamir and Shah Rukh Khan in films like Ishq, Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke, Darr, Yes Boss, Duplicate, One Two Ka Four, Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman and Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani among others. Besides the two Khans, she also worked in films opposite heroes like Sunny Deol (Darr) and Anil Kapoor. She also formed a very successful jodi with Rishi Kapoor and the duo gave hits like Bol Radha Bol and Ena Meena Deeka. Some of noteworthy films of this period include Aaina opposite Jackie Shroff, Darr and Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman.
During the 2000s, after having starred in over 70 mainstream Hindi films, Chawla turned towards what we call multiplex films and those in Punjabi like Shaheed Udham Singh, Des Hoya Pardes and Waris Shah: Ishq Da Waris. She also worked in Malayalam films like Harikrishnans in which she starred opposite Mohanlal and Manmootty. She gained critical recognition as an actress of repute with films like My Brother Nikhil' 'Jhankar Beats', 3 Deewarein and Bas Ek Pal. The actress also branched out into film production with her good friend Shah Rukh Khan and director Aziz Mirza. Their company called Dreamz Unlimited was not a great success. The first two films produced by the company— Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindutsani and Asoka failed at the box office.
Their third film, Chalte Chalte, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji, was the first success for the company. In recent times, the actress has been seen in films like Nikhil Advani's Salaam-E-Ishq, Swami, Krazzy 4, Bhootnath and Kismet Konnection. As for her personal life, the actress is married to industrialist Jai Mehta and has two children as well. She and her husband are co-owners of Indian Premier League team, the Kolkata Knight Riders, along with Shah Rukh and his company Red Chillies Entertainment. She was last seen in the 2012 Diwali release, Son Of Sardaar, alongside Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt and Sonakshi Sinha.
