Joy Mukherjee was the youngest member of famous Mukerji Family. He was launched by his father in a home-production called 'Love In Simla' (1960) opposite newcomer Sadhana. This film did wonders for both the youngsters and Joy Mukerji went on to become one of the most sought after stars of light romantics of the 60s.
He worked with top heroines like Asha Parekh, Sadhana, Mala Sinha and Saira Bano. Some of his super hit movies are 'Love In Tokyo', 'Shagird', 'Ziddi', 'Ek Musafir Ek Hasina', 'Phir Wohi Dil Laya Hoon', 'Saaz Aur Awaaz', 'Aao Pyar Kare', 'Ek Baar Muskura Do' and 'Hum Hindustani'.
After some time the Joy Mukerji mania started fading off and he switched his concentration towards movie making. But sadly he turned out to be a bad director. None of his movies, right from 'Humsaaya' to 'Love in Bombay' did well for him. The lover boy image that he had did not do him anything good.
