Ferena Wazeir Profile
She reflected the romantic allure of Mumtaz Mahal in A R Rahman's Taj video; she portrays an affable Parsee journalist in Ketan Mehta?s new film; she is the protagonist of a Hollywood project with Oscar winning director Danis Tanovic and a few other Hindi film projects with top directors under her belt. Born in the snow clad valleys of Kashmir and brought up in the picturesque Scotland, Ferena Wazeir, daughter of an Urdu teacher, is an Indian through and through. After a dozen calls from both sides, Ferena finally finds time from the hectic demands of her kathak, jazz, ballet, tap dancing classes, yoga sessions, swimming and busy film shoots. We meet on a hot afternoon of Mumbai's approaching winter over a cup of coffee. Unpretentious and easy to talk to, pure at heart, she starts her conversation with a friendly demeanour typical of a western upbringing. "Yeah, I was born in India but then my parents moved to Scotland and we kept shuttling between India and Scotland till I was 3. And finally dad settled there, so my entire education was done in Scotland. I was a sort of child prodigy in school; I have done my double graduation and journalism".
