The countdown to the release of Student of The Year 2 began a few days ago with the makers unveiling one poster after the other and the trailer is finally out now.
The film revolves around Rohan (Tiger Shroff), a bright student from not so affluent background, who gets admission into the prestigious St. Teresa’s college. While Rohan wants to clench the annual inter college sports competition, Dignity Cup and also the Student Of The Year trophy, his friend Mridula (Tara Sutaria) wants to win the dance competition.
Then enters Shreya (Ananya Panday), a rich spoilt brat, who bullies our hero and makes life difficult for him. Something then happens, which crashes Rohan’s dreams, as he gets kicked out of St. Teresa’s. However, not one to give up easily, Rohan takes admission in Kishori Lal Chamandas College and starts working towards his goal. Meanwhile, both the girls fall in love with him thus giving us a love triangle much like Karan Johar’s Student Of The Year.
The plot will strongly remind you of the cult Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander as in this film too a student from a lower middle class background would be competing with the college stud of St. Teresa’s. Like Aamir Khan’s character in JJWS, here too the guy has two ladies to choose from, a rich diva and his not so popular friend.
The film has been shot well and is visually very appealing. Tiger is convincing as a college student and impresses with both, his acting and his stunts. Tara Sutaria looks stunning and while Ananya Pandey is beautiful, she is too cute to be a bully. Sameer Soni is playing the principal of St. Teresa’s and Aditya Seal is playing Tiger’s nemesis and it seems that the actor will give tough competition to the Baaghi star in the movie.
Directed by Punit Malhotra, SOTY 2 is slated to release on May 10.
