A day ago, Nawazuddin Siddiqui wowed us with his portrayal of Bal Thackeray in his biopic, Thackeray’s trailer and now, Anupam Kher has nailed the role of former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, in his next, The Accidental Prime Minister.

The film is based on Sanjay Baru’s eponymous book and tells the story of Singh’s journey to the Prime Minister’s chair. The trailer shows how Manmohan Singh, became a mere puppet in Congress President Sonia Gandhi’s hands and that he was neither in control of his cabinet nor was he given the power to take important decisions.

Kher has transformed into Manmohan Singh for the movie and right from his body language to his speech, he has aced the character. Akshaye Khanna is playing Baru, who was Singh’s media advisor from 2004-2008, and he is brilliant. Suzanne Bernert is playing Sonia Gandhi and is a spitting image of her in the movie.
