Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Sapna Didi’ To Go On Floors In January 2018

We had reported a few weeks back that Vishal Bhardwaj will team up with Deepika Padukone for the very first time for a film titled ‘Sapna Didi’, which would revolve around a widow hiring a gangster to avenge her husband’s murder and we have some details on the film.

We have learned that the film will go on floors in mid-January next year and that Bhardwaj is currently working on the music of the film. Sapna Didi will see Deepika being paired with her ‘Piku’ co-star Irrfan Khan once again. ‘Sapna Didi’ is based on true incidents and was inspired by a short story from the book ‘Mafia Queens Of Mumbai’ by Hussain Zaidi and Jane Borges. For those who did not know this, Sapna Didi had planned Dawood Ibrahim’s execution during a cricket match in Sharjah to avenge her husband’s death. Unfortunately for her, he got wind of her plans and killed her days before she could get to him.

Deepika will be next seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati, which also stars Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor.
