Spiritual guru, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has declared war against drugs by launching a nationwide campaign and several Bollywood biggies have joined him in this initiative.
Bollywood celebs like Aamir Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Varun Dhawan, Baadshah, Sonakshi Sinha, Parineeti Chopra, Kapil Sharma, Ekta Kapoor and Karan Johar among others have joined hands with Sri Sri in his fight against drug abuse. “Our youth have such promising potential to blossom in life, but drugs rob not just the individual, but their family, society and the nation of that promise. We must do everything in our capacity to stop the drug menace. Let us all join together to create a #DrugFreeIndia,” wrote the spiritual guru.
Sanjay Dutt, who fell prey to drug abuse during his heydays, said, “I have experienced the menace of drugs first hand. I know the havoc it creates and so this cause is close to my heart. The aim is to make this campaign India’s largest. It’s very easy to get sucked into drug abuse, but very difficult to get out of it. It all starts when minds are young and impressionable. We have to firmly tell youngsters that drug abuse is not cool. That’s why we want to reach out to the youth of this country and spread the word through campuses.” “Na karunga, na karne doonga,” said Baba, as he signed off.
The two-day event will be held on 18 and 19 February and we hear that the actors will engage with 25000 students on campuses on both the days, to counsel and discourage them from falling prey to such abuse. They will be joined by over one crore students from various institutions from the length and breadth of the nation, who will witness the event through a live broadcast. This would be then followed by a road-show, in which all the celebs will participate.
