Maverick filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma, who had made a thriller named Killing Veerappan down South, will also make a biopic on Veerappan in Hindi and the filmmaker took to his Twitter page to unveil the first look of his film.
Varma also said on Twitter, "Veerappan is not a remake of Kannada superhit Killing Veerappan completely Remade in Hindi as a biopic.” Sachiin Joshi, who is producing the film, had said in an interview, ”At the back of my mind, I kept thinking what caused a man like Veerappan to rise in the first place. Later, RGV told me that his reason for focusing only on his killing was because all Kannadigas knew the back story. But once I heard the whole story, it blew my mind. I insisted that this film had to be made as a biopic on an international level for it to reach its true potential. I want RGV to make this without any compromises because this will be a once in a lifetime project."
The poster bears the tagline, ”It took 10 years to kill Osama Bin Laden… It took 20 years to kill Veerappan.” The creative takes us into the dark world of Veerappan and his reign of terror in the jungles of South India. Sandeep Bharadwaj, who makes his acting debut with this film, bears an uncanny resemblance to Veerappan and we are sure that the biopic will prove to be a must watch for fans of realistic cinema.
Veerappan is slated to release on May 27.
