The #MeToo movement in India kick-started with Tanushree Dutta accusing Nana Patekar of inappropriate conduct towards her. The Cine And TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA) sent a notice to Nana Patekar seeking an explanation from his side on the allegations done by Tanushree Dutta. Earlier the committee addressed to the media in the recently held press conference that they will look into this matter at the earliest and action will be taken accordingly. Now Nana Patekar has responded to their notice.
Apparently, Nana has termed the allegations as ‘false’ and ‘baseless’. As per a leading news agency, the veteran responded to CINTAA with a detailed note denying all the accusations done against him and called Tanushree’s allegations false and baseless. Nana also mentioned that he was in the process of taking appropriate legal action against Tanushree.
Just to give a quick recap of the situation, Tanushree Dutta after returning to Mumbai in an interview acccused Nana Patekar of harassing her sexually on the sets on the sets of Horn Ok Pleassss. Along with Nana, Tanushree also filed a police complaint against choreographer Ganesh Acharya, Rakesh Sarang and Sami Siddiqui who were present on the set back in 2008. Many Bollywood celebs supported Tanushree while some have backed Nana. Tanushree’s allegations seemed to have opened a Pandora’s box in the industry and now many other ladies have come out in the open and shared their #MeToo stories.
