After receiving accolades at several film festivals, Tabrez Noorani’s Love Sonia is winning over audiences in India and a man got so moved after watching Richa Chadha’s performance, in the movie that he donated Rs. 8 lakh to an NGO, which helps victims of human trafficking.
One of Richa’s friends, who works with women who have been rescued and rehabilitated, told her that a man had promised to donate money to their NGO but the donation didn’t come. However, they received a cheque from him eight months later, after he saw Love Sonia and understood the work that they were doing.
Richa said, “This is reason we do what we do as actors. A lot of Press asked me why I agreed to do a supporting role in a film. But after my friend who helps raise funds for trafficked girls and women, it made me realize that its sometimes compassion that drives us as artists.”
