Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar, who have previously given Dum Laga Ke Haisha and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, will be next seen sharing screen space in Bala however, their quirky comedy has hit a roadblock.
The film has landed into legal trouble as a case has been filed against Ayushmann, producer Dinesh Vijan and director Amar Kaushik by Kamal Kant Chandra in the Bombay High Court for allegedly lifting the story of Bala from his creative project, Wig.
Kamal Kant, who has assisted Sudhir Mishra On Daas Dev, has alleged that he had shared the story of a balding man with Khurrana on Whatsapp and that the actor had liked the idea and even called him for a meeting, which never materialised. Kamal Kant further added that Ayushmann stopped responding to his messages and later announced Bala, which is based on the same subject.
Director Amar Kaushik, who is presently in Lucknow, scouting locations for Bala has stated that he hasn’t met Kamal Kant nor is he aware of his script. Kaushik has said that he has been writing the story since day one and that they have been scripting it since the past four-five months. He further added that the producers will take care of the case.
Reportedly, Ayushmann will be essaying the role of a prematurely balding guy and Bhumi will play a dusky small-town girl in Bala. Meanwhile, Ayushmann is shooting for Anubhav Sinha’s Article 15 and will also be seen sharing screen space with Nushrat Bharucha in Ekta Kapoor’s Dream Girl.
