Boney Kapoor’s veering in a new direction. Into film direction, that is. After several memorable years in B town as a prolific producer, BK’s taking the big plunge!
Reportedly, his directorial debut is slated to star Salman Khan alongside a posse of topline actors. And nah, it won’t showcase his permanent obsession: Sridevi.
“It’s too much of a responsibility and I don’t think I’d be able to do justice to Sri in my
first film,” admits Kapoor in a media chat. “Besides, it would be difficult for us to separate our personal equation and become professionals on the sets.”
For the uninformed, Kapoor had already honed his directorial skills under the baton of the late Shakti Samanta in four movies: ‘Mehbooba’, ‘Anand Ashram,’ ‘The Great Gambler’ and the unreleased ‘Maha Guru’. “It was inevitable that I should get into direction,” states BK.
Incidentally, BK was all geared up to direct the Hindi remake of Chris Columbus’ ‘Stepmom’, a few years ago.
“I wanted Sri to play the older woman and Kajol, a favourite of mine, to play the younger one,” reveals Kapoor. “I’d even spoken to Kajol about it. And look at the irony of it. Now Kajol is playing the older woman and Kareena is playing the younger one in Karan Johar’s film.”
