Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who has lent his inimitable baritone for voiceovers of many films, has recorded his voiceover for Kapil Sharma’s upcoming film Firangi.
Interestingly, Firangi is the second colonial drama after Ashutosh Gowariker’s Lagaan to feature Bachchan’s voice. What many may not know is that Bachchan began his career in films in 1969 as a voice narrator in Mrinal Sen‘s Bhuvan Shome. Set during pre-Independence India, Firangi revolves around a ‘good for nothing’ villager Magga (Sharma), who believes that the British are not so bad, a sentiment not shared by the rest of the village. When Magga is employed by the British for his unique way of healing backaches with a well-placed kick, he believes that his life has changed for the better, till he falls in love and now has to choose between love and loyalty to his employers.
Directed by Rajiev Dhingra, Firangi also stars Ishita Dutta, Monica Gill, Edward Sonnenblick, Kumud Mishra, Rajesh Sharma, Inaamulhaq, Aanjjan Srivastav, Jameel Khan and Vishal Sharma. The film will release on 24th November 2017.
