What's In A (Pet) Name?

By MovieTalkies.com, 21 February 2011 Sushmita Sen, Sanjay Dutt

When Titoo turns on the charm full throttle, it's easy to be swayed superbly. Perhaps, you couldn't quite figure her out? Here's a Sen sational clue.

Titoo happens to be… Sushmita Sen! And that's her cute little pet name. Although the world refers to her more often as Sush. And her indescribably gorgeous competitior: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Ash.

Most stars have become synonymous with her pet names. Mention Lolo and Bebo and the identification is instantaneous. The Kapoors, Karisma and Kareena, probably must have quit wincing a long, long time ago and got accustomed to producers/ directors/ co stars / spanking new acquaintances calling out to them by their pet names.

Both the KK gals used to be die hard fans of Sridevi, whose parents had given their celebrity daughter a homely pet name: Pappi, a rather common one among South Indians.

Amrita Singh aka Dingy has a pet name that sounds a bit ominous (more like a dark, dingy room). Pity, her situation too was a little un Saif, until some time ago.

Her late father Shomu Mukherjee used to address Kajol her as 'Kajli maa'. He was firmly convinced that his illustrious daughter was his mother re born into his household! Tanuja's second daughter Tanishaa goes by the pet name of Tish…rhymes supremely with her debut: 'Ssshhh...

The Kapoor brothers were conferred with pet names which stuck onto them like glue. Randhir Kapoor (Dabboo), Rishi Kapoor ( Chintu) and Rajiv Kapoor (Chimpoo) have never really been able to shrug off or outgrow their pet names in fanzines.

If the late Chetan Anand was Goldie and yesteryear star Joy Mukherjee had a son named Boy Mukherjee (his actual name!), then director Dharmesh Darshan can boast of an unusual pet name: Toy!
