6 months after Jab Tak Hai Jaan, a very selective A.R. Rahman would be coming up with the musical score of Raanjhnaa. If insider information is anything to go by, the composer has come up with a soundtrack that would find good popular acceptance coming its way after his last major success Rockstar.
"His last release Jab Tak Hai Jaan was less than overwhelming for the audience at large. It was meant to be a mother of all albums, courtesy names like Yash Chopra, Gulzar and Shahrukh Khan attached to it. What one got was a soundtrack that was a mixed bag and not quite the kind that found a place amongst his best", comments an observer.
Fate of Ekk Deewana Tha, the Prateik Babbar-Amy Jackson starrer, was no better as the soundtrack, despite being good, was not even noticed. The film's disastrous response at the box office further killed whatever chances that the music carried to grow.
"This should change with Raanjhnaa though", says a source, "He has gone all out for the score. He and director Aanand L. Rai had many sittings together to crack the small town setting of the film."
Adds Krishika Lulla, the film's producer, "The composer has come up with a soundtrack that can well be placed amongst his best. He himself is so excited about it and in an enthusiastic mode. He is very happy with the results."
Our sources further inform that the album is a full on musical with as many as seven original songs. Glimpse of the music would be heard after Holi while complete soundtrack would be unveiled a month later.
As to whether he gives Dhanush yet another Kolaveri Di, currently there is complete silence.
