By MovieTalkies.com, 21 October 2012 Yash Chopra

One of the most talented and veteran filmmakers of the Hindi film industry, Yash Chopra, who had been admited to the Lilavati hospital since the past few days due to an attack of dengue, passed away on Sunday evening.

Yash Chopra started his career as an assistant to director I.S Johar and then for his director-producer brother, B.R. Chopra. Yash made his debut as a director with the 1959 movie Dhool Ka Phool.

After forming his own production compay
Yash Raj Films, Chopra made movies with a variety of well-known actors from Dilip Kumar to Rajesh Khanna to Shashi Kapoor to Amitabh Bachchan to Shah Rukh Khan. Known for his romantic stories, Chopra also made intense movies like Deewar, Trishul and Kaala Patthar, which helped Amitabh Bachchan with the tag of the 'Angry Young Man'.

As far as romances are concerned,
Chopra had directed gems like Kabhi Kabhi, Silsila,Chandni, Lamhe, Dil To Pagal Hai and Veer Zaara.

Chopra made his comeback to direction with Jab Tak Hai Jaan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma. Needless to say, as Chopra was wielding the megaphone after so many years, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, which releases this Diwali, is one of the most highly anticipated movies of 2012.

The veteran director had recently turned 80 and Bollywood had gone out of its way to wish the patriarch of the Hindi film industry.
We at Movie Talkies offer our condolences to the bereaved Chopra family and pray for the soul of the 'King Of Romance'.
