Ileana Cautions Audience From Carrying Set Expectations

By Joginder Tuteja, MovieTalkies.com, 14 September 2012 Ileana D'Cruz

Ileana D'Cruz, who has debuted with Barfi! today, is well aware of the fact that audience have been curious to check out this new face in Bollywood. A superstar down South, she is obviously elated with the attention coming her way, especially with critics too hailing her performance. This despite the fact that Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra have been widely publicised as the main leads in the film.

However she does throw a work of caution that the film is way too different from her more notable work down South; case in point being Pokiri or Kick where she played glamorous roles.

"Yes, you do tend to get a little flattered that people have recognised your work from down South as well. It is important because otherwise you are not too sure of whether your work is known in Bollywood or not. Having said that, I want people to look at me with fresh perspective. Reason being that if you watch my South films and then see Barfi!, you may be disappointed in case you are carrying similar expectations. See, Barfi! is very different from my South films. This one is more thought provoking and is about philosophy of life. Though I must admit that it isn't dark or morose", she says.

Meanwhile even though Barfi! got delayed by over six months, she claims to have used that to her own advantage by preparing for some more time.

"I think it was all worth it eventually as the whole experience of shooting was so beautiful. Moreover, I got more time to focus on the film as well as the character that allowed me to better my own act. Rather than finishing it all off in a quick schedule, I had all the time to get things perfect", she smiles.

Going by the response coming her and the film's way, guess she indeed got it all just right.
