Indian national Sarabjit Singh, who was arrested by Pakistan government on charges of being a RAW agent way back in 1990, seems to have found support from none other than Salman Khan, who plays a RAW agent in his upcoming film Ek Tha Tiger.
Khan took to Twitter to make an appeal to the Pakistan government to free Singh, who is presently awaiting capital punishment in Pakistan. Salman has written, "Requesting the people of Pakistan to support me help free Sarabjit, who has been in prison since 30 years. Please…Allah ka vasta… It would be the most amazing gesture to send Sarabjit back to his family after 30 years… Hope you support me like its your own cause." The actor also revealed on Twitter that he felt overwhelmed when he saw a picture of Sarabjit's sister. Not only this, Salman, who is known for his humanitarian gestures, also claimed that he is planning to file an online petition. "And to people from all over the world. Thx for your support. Am planning an online petition," he wrote.
For those who do not know this, Sarabjit had been arrested and charged for his alleged involvement in the 1990 serial bomb blasts in Lahore and Multan, that ended up claiming 14 lives. Singh has however maintained that he is an innocent Indian farmer, who strayed across the border by mistake and got arrested.
Incidentally, Salman Khan will be seen playing an undercover Indian intelligence agent in Kabir Khan's Ek Tha Tiger, which releases on August 15 this year.
