Emraan Hashmi who's received accolades for his portrayal of Jogi Parmar in Dibakar Banerjee's recently released film Shanghai, is all praise for the political thriller. Emraan has stated that Shanghai is one of the most important films of his career.
Addressing the media Hashmi recently said, "Traditional Bollywood films, are easy to make you just have to add a few ingredients and it's easy to recover the cost of the film. Shanghai, in my opinion is the boldest film I've done in my career on the concept level. Shanghai deconstructed the image I was stereotyped in. It has showcased a new Emraan Hashmi. I think it was very shocking for people to see me in the role of Jogi Parmar. So after this I want that whatever characters I do, they should be as unpredictable as a character like Jogi Parmar as I always like to surprise the audiences with my films and characters and I want to do more roles like this."
Though Shanghai didn't set the cash registers ringing in the theaters on its release day, the film is now attracting audience, "We have made a film which breaks the convention, so yes for this kind of film we started off slow on a Friday but the appreciation we have received from the audiences, the jump that the film received on Saturday and Sunday and the kind of response that I've got from SMSs and calls and the trade also saying that on Sunday we recovered the cost of the film. I think it's a win win situation for the entire team," said the 33-year-old actor.
"I think this kind of film needs to be nurtured, needs your support so that there are more film's like Shanghai. I've been in this industry for 7 years now and I've seen that audiences have different tastes. I want to be an actor who pitches his films to everyone," he further added rooting for the film.
In future Emraan will be seen in films like Raaz 3, Ghanchakkar and Ek Thi Daayan.
