Ravi Kissen Quits Bhojpuri Films, To Concentrate On Bollywood
By MovieTalkies.com, 07 May 2012
After acting in 165 movies in the last decade or so, Bhojpuri superstar Ravi Kissen has finally decided to hang up his boots. Ravi, who also plays supporting roles in Hindi films, amassed tremendous popularity when he participated in the first season of Bigg Boss (Indian version of Celebrity Big Brother). The actor believes that the Bhojpuri film industry does not command the same respect that other regional cinema such as Tollywood or Mollywood does.
The 40-year old actor was instrumental in reviving the lost glory of Bhojpuri films and was a major reason why these films started generating a lot of revenue at the box office.
Ravi Kissen was quoted as saying, "I am not getting the kind of scripts I am longing to do. I am bored of routine work and doing the same kinds of films over and over again. After 165 films in the last eight years, I want to do something else." This makes us wonder if the glitz and glamor of Bollywood has put him off from Bhojpuri cinema.
The Bhojpuri star added, "I have always maintained Hindi cinema is my father and Bhojpuri cinema is my mother. I can never leave my mother so I will always be involved in the Bhojpuri industry as a producer."
All said and done, Ravi Kissen who is solely responsible for turning the fortunes of the Bhojpuri film industry has embarked upon a promising career in Bollywood. Let's wish the maverick actor good luck for his innings in B-town!
