After making the nation fall in love with his ishq sufiyana for Ekta Kapoor's The Dirty Picture, Emraan Hashmi is ready to repeat history, with yet another sufi number. Dibakar Banerjee recently shot a sufiyana track, starring Emraan, for his much-awaited film Shanghai.
When music label T-Series insited to add a romantic number to the soundtrack of the film, it brought creases on Dibakar's forehead, as Shanghai is a political thriller and not a love story. The director was worried about adding a song that had no connect with the movie and didn't want it to stand out like a sore thumb, in the flick.
"Banerjee discussed the song with Emraan and they both decided that Dibakar would shoot the song himself so that the film retains its continuity," says a source.
And the talented filmmaker gave an interesting angle to it and now the song will be featured as a sequel to the film and will show Jogi Parmar's (Hashmi's character) life after the movie.
Starring Abhay Deol, Emraan Hashmi and Kalki Koechlin in the lead roles, Shanghai will release on June 8, 2012.
