A mere day after Aamir Khan's television show Satyamev Jayate made its debut on television, the show has seemed to landed in hot waters over a legal notice sent to the show. It seems that Palash Sen of band Euphoria fame has sent a legal notice to Aamir Khan Productions, alleging that parts of the tune of the show have been lifted from a decade old song of their band.
Palash Sen was quoted saying, "The trailers have been running on television for quite a while, but I had not seen the videos. When I heard it, I was shocked. In 2000, Euphoria released its second album 'Phir Dhoom' and one of the songs was named Satyameva Jayate. They have basically used the same refrain." Sen further added that had he been asked for permission to use the tune, he would have given it without any thought for money, though he would have asked for credit to the band for the song.
However, when contacted, Ram Sampath, the composer of the anthem for the show was quoted saying, "I don't have any idea about what is being said. Nobody has said anything of this sort to me yet. So I refuse to comment."
Guess time will only tell whose version of the 'truth' achieves 'victory', eh?
