'Daddy' Turns Year Older 

An alumnus and former chairperson of the prestigious National School of Drama (NSD), Anupam Kher remains one of the few actors in Bollywood who has done almost all kinds of roles-from a suffering father to a psychotic terrorist to a bumbling cop to a miserly scrap dealer.

Anupam Kher made his Bollywood debut in 1982 with the movie Aagman. However, it was with Saaransh two years later that Anupam Kher came to be noticed as a 28 year old actor, who played the role of a retired senior citizen.

Kher went on to act in many movies like the sensitive Daddy to the commercial entertainer Tezaab and is regarded as one of the finest actors of Hindi cinema. Apart from Hindi movies, Kher has also acted in Punjabi and Malayalam films.

Apart from acting, Kher also ventured into direction with Om Jai Jagadish and as a producer with Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Maara. On an international platform, Anupak Kher is known for English language films like Bend It Like Beckham and Bride And Prejudice.

Anupam Kher is married to fellow actress Kirron Kher and his son, Sikander Kher and brother Raju Kher are actors too.
