So, the verdict is in! Where the reviews went to town raving about the latest Irrfan Khan starter Paan Singh Tomar, audiences, for once, seem to have agreed with the critic bunch. No wonder then, that on the first day itself, the Tigmanshu Dhulia-directed action biopic about a champion runner turned dacoit has taken in Rs.85 lacs at the box-office!
The film's figures are especially impressive in light of the fact that the film opened at just 200 screens. In comparison, Anu Menon's directorial debut, London, Paris, New York, starring Ali Zafar and Aditi Rao Hydari, has only seen collections of about Rs.80 lacs on its first day, in spite of being released over 500 screens.
With a budget of just Rs.5.5 crores, it's clear that the film is on its way to success. Though that might be bad news for the other releases this week, one can be sure that the jingling of the box-office register is music for Tigmanshu's ears...!
