Saif Ali Khan, who was booked under Sections 325 and 34 of the IPC, following a complaint by NRI businessman Iqbal Sharma, for physical assault, was today arrested by the police and was later released on bail. After maintaining a stoic silence on the entire incident, Saif finally gave his version of the story post his release. Saif has stated that contrary to the reports, it was he and his friends who were abused at the hotel last night. "There was an ugly incident last night where my friends and the ladies with us were abused and I was assaulted. I was hit and I defended myself," said the Nawab. Saif also declared that he has also filed a cross complaint against Sharma. "I have been to the police station to answer the requirements of law as I am a law abiding citizen. I have also filed a complaint about what happened last night and I am confident justice will be done," said the 41-year-actor, in his defense. "I have seen the interviews given on TV and they look like decent people and I cannot believe that the same people were so aggressive the night before and the lies that they are saying about me with such straight faces," he further added. Asking media to remain unbiased, Saif said "I think they have the CCTV footage in the restaurant that will prove everything. I hope the media is able to remain impartial while the matter is being decided. I don’t think any gentleman would have behaved differently." The Nawab of Patuadi landed into trouble when he got into a scuffle with Sharma on Tuesday at a five star hotel in Mumbai. Following the assault, the businessman lodged a complaint against Saif and his friends for verbal and physical abuse. An FIR was registered against Saif and his friends under sections 325 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intent) of IPC. Saif Ali Khan was brought to the police station along with Shakeel Ladak and Bilal Amrohi, who too were booked in the case. The trio was released on bail on a surety bond of Rs. 3000 each.
