Bhoot Returns Review In Short-
A family moves into a new house and starts experiencing paranormal incidents…
Bhoot Returns Review Story Plot-
A family comprising Tarun (
J. D. Chakravarthy), his wife Namrata (
Manisha Koirala) and their two children move into a new house and from day one, they start getting a weird feeling about the whole thing as daughter Nimmi (
Alayana Sharma) keeps talking about a 'new friend' named Shabbo in the house, who no one else can see or hear. Initially, the parents do not take this seriously but when strange incidents keep happening at night, they start fearing a paranormal presence, despite their initial scepticism. Things finally go out of hand when their servant Laxman is found murdered and Nimmi claims that Shabbo killed him…
Bhoot Returns Review Performances-
Manisha Koirala, who makes a comeback with his horror flick, puts in a decent performance as the mother of two kids, who is confused and frightened about the strange things happening around her in the house. JD Chakravarthy, with his heavy South Indian accent, the two children and
Madhu Shalini as JD's sister too are passable enough.
Bhoot Returns Review Direction-
Bhoot Returns has all the elements that is used to make a horror flick- a haunted house, creaking doors, footsteps in the night, swings that move on their own et al. However, there is certainly something missing in the entire narrative, which is responsible for not scaring you the way the director had hoped to. Once more, Varma experiments with his cameras-with disastrous results…the cameraman seems too focused on inanimate objects like wind chimes or pieces of furniture scattered around the house, which makes one wonder why did Ramu bother with 3D in the first place. Last but not the least, Varma borrows from 'Paranormal Activity' and other horror flicks made in the past, because of which, his latest fare has nothing new to offer.
Bhoot Returns Review Final Word-
Those who enjoyed the scary Bhoot are sure to shake their heads in disappointment at this one…
