A self - proclaimed 'fun film', Love Recipe is anything but a yawn marathon inducing flick comprising a bunch of characters from a retired Inspector General of Police, who can't speak a sentence without forgetting a word or two (a character that has been done to death by Paresh Rawal and Johnny Lever in the past), a police inspector who is a die-hard fan of Rajinikanth (a character which has again been dealt with in Ek Chalis Ki Last Local) and a servant, who speaks in some incoherent language that no one can understand (This reviewer is already yawning…), amongst other morons, who seem hell-bent on ruining your appetite for films with their 'recipe'…
DJ Rahul Kher (Suhail Karim) and Tia (Rani Agarwal), the daughter of stern retired IG Pratap Singh, are in love and want to marry each other. However, Singh, who is very gung-ho about 'Hindustaniat' frowns on Western concepts like love marriages and so the lovebirds are compelled to perpetrate a con to win the heart of the stern patriarch.
Meanwhile, police inspector Govind Dahimode (Sanjay Narvekar), a cop whose heart flutters for his senior official Iyengar, is on the trail of international terrorist Carlos Randall (J Brandon Hill) for the bounty amount of Rs. 50 crores and also to win the heart of his ladylove. When Carlos gets beheaded in a scuffle with Dahimode and the severed head gets misplaced and lands up in Rahul's possession, it leads to a cat and mouse game, with every character trying to outwit each other in order to acquire the head and claim the bounty amount…
Right from the first scene, the movie starts to bore you with its juvenile humour and lackluster performances. Though Vrajesh Hirjee, who plays Tia's brother and Sanjay Narvekar try to make you laugh with their antics, the efforts fall flat. Moreover, it's disheartening to see actors like Manoj Joshi and Darshan Jariwala play stereotypical characters without really putting their hearts into it.
All in all, Love Recipe makes for one unpalatable fare....
