Rajjo Movie Review-In Short
A college student falls in love with a nautch girl and ends up marrying her, leading to many complications and problems.

Rajjo Movie Review-Verdict
Though Kangana tries her best to give an honest performance, the rest of the film is quite unimpressive.

Rajjo Movie Review-Story Plot
Chandu (Paras Arora-who looks like a young and plump Shia LaBeouf) is a college student from Virar, who is more interested in porn magazines and playing cricket than studying.

When his cricket team wins a local match, the boys decide to visit a brothel for some fun and Chandu ends up falling for Rajjo (Kangana Ranaut), a nautch girl, who is lusted after by many, including the unscrupulous Hande (Prakash Raj). Though Rajjo is initially amused at Chandu’s affection, she too starts falling for him gradually and the two decide to get married with the blessings of Begum (Mahesh Manjrekar), the eunuch ‘madam’ of the brothel.

However, the society is not ready to accept Rajjo and her husband and the couple has to face a lot of problems, which are compounded by the fact that the rich and powerful Hande is trying every trick in the book to persuade Rajjo to dance at his bar. How Rajjo and Chandu manage to overcome such difficulties forms the rest of the plot.

Rajjo Movie Review-Performances
After playing a mutant in her last film Krrish 3, Kangana is seen playing a nautch girl from Nagpada in the film and we must say that though she has put in a decent effort, her voice and her dialogue delivery makes for unintentionally funny moments. Paras Arora is passable and so is the rest of the cast, with the possible exception of Prakash Raj, who plays a caricature but yet manages to evoke a few laughs with his ‘comic baddie’ avatar.

Rajjo Movie Review-Direction
In one of the scenes of the film, the wife of a suspended cop consoles him by saying, “Tum mere sindoor ke Inspector ho”...so you can imagine what kind of a film Rajjo is going to be. The performances are passable, the dialogues are either weird (like the one mentioned above) or mediocre and the overall feel of the film is quite outdated. Moreover, there are a lot of unnecessary scenes in the film, which end up dragging the film beyond a tolerable level. If you were expecting a realistic story set in the grim underbelly of Mumbai, you will be sorely disappointed. Mind you, the story had the potential for a real tear-jerker, but the shoddy execution and the lack of attention to detail (Kangana wears bright lip-stick even when living the life of a village belle and going to fetch water in a pot on her head) proves to be the film’s undoing.

Go for Rajjo only if you are a die-hard Kangana fan...
