Inkaar Movie Review-In Short
An advertising agency turns into a battlefield of corporate politics when a high-ranking executive accuses her mentor of sexual harassment

Inkaar Movie Review-Verdict
Though the film is quite visually appealing and forces you to think, we feel it should have been crisper

Inkaar Movie Review-Story Plot
Maya Luthra (Chitrangda Singh) is a talented copywriter at an advertising agency, who climbs up the corporate ladder in minimal time due to the help and guidance of her mentor Rahul Verma (Arjun Rampal).

However, all is not what it seems and the murky world of gender politics in a corporate environment is soon laid bare when Maya accuses Rahul of sexual harassment. To further complicate things, Rahul accuses her of indulging in manipulation to reach the top and finally, an enquiry is set up under Mrs. Kamdar (Deepti Naval), an independent social worker-judge.

Who is guilty? Who is innocent? Nothing is ever simple…to find out the rest, watch the movie.

Inkaar Movie Review-Performance
Both Chitrangda and Arjun look great on screen and manage to hold their own wonderfully. Arjun gives a restrained performance as the ad agency honcho, whereas Chitrangda oozes sensuality in every scene. The rest of the cast, comprising Deepti Naval, Vipin Sharma and others, are decent enough too. Special mention must be made of Vipin Sharma, whose witty one-liners will have you chuckling merrily.

Inkaar Movie Review-Direction
At the outset, it must be mentioned that the film is quite visually appealing and is beautifully shot. Another area where Sudhir Mishra deserves kudos is the way he keeps the entire issue quite ambiguous. Unlike other films like Aitraaz and Disclosure, where the issue of sexual harassment seemed quite open and shut, Inkaar forces you to think everything twice. For example- the scene where Rahul demands to know the difference between casual flirting and sexual harassment. The film is shown from the point of views of both Rahul and Maya and it is difficult to side with any one character…for both seem to justify their stands quite effectively. However, on the flip side, the film should sure have been crisper than what it is and the climax scene will leave you confused about what exactly happened.

Inkaar Movie Review-Final Word
If you don't mind a film that seems to move at a slow pace to make a point, do go watch it. For fans of Arjun and Chitrangda, it's a visual treat for sure!

Situational

By Reflections, MovieTalkies.com, 27 December 2012 2.5 / 5

Inkaar is an upcoming flick directed by Sudhir Mishra which touches upon the sensitive subject of crimes against women as well as social injustice. The movie features Arjun Rampal and Chitrangda Singh in the lead roles. 3 Idiots pair of Swanand Kirkire and Shantanu Moitra is back with the film.

The album kicks-off with a solo track Darmiyan in the husky vocals of Swanand Kirkire. This one is a situational melody which is well supported by a group of chorus. Swanand's rendition has a good feel of story narration while Shantanu's music is calm on ears and easy to hum.

Next in the lists is 'Maula Tu Malik Hai' in the vocals of Shantanu and Swanand. The track seems to be a jugalbandi between the two, hence giving it a feel of a qawali with a retro flavour. Arrangements used by the composer are pleasant and a blend of saxophone with fast paced music makes it even more enjoyable. Altogether the track proves out be a nice outing. Lyrics penned by Swanand are pleasing and acknowledgeable.

K.Mohan makes an entry in the album with a rock track Zindagi Ka Karobar. Mohan's heavy vocal go well with the very genre of this track which seems to be more of a satire. Shantanu's composition includes more of electric guitar as the track proceeds ahead and switches from low to high notes. The lyrics of this relatively shorter track are poetic and one can see that Swanand's work has gone better with every piece of writing.

Kuch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai is another situational rock outing in the vocals of Suraj Jagan. This one is an average number with hardly any innovation done. It seems as if with this track the protagonists are approaching towards the climax of the movie. The arrangements used are loud and flashy which are quite unappealing. Even Swanand's lyrics don't really impress much.

The album ends with a soft and pleasant composition Inkaar (Theme) with mesmerising vocals of Monali Thakur doing well in the background. This one is a seductive piece of music that goes well with the mood of the film, thus creating an apt ambience for the movie. The soft composition is a pleasant gift to the ears after two rock outings.

Overall the album is an average piece with the tracks Inkaar(Theme), Darmiyan and MaulaTu Malik Hai being pleasant while other two tracks just pass muster.
