Kismet Love Paisa Dilli REVIEWS

Khanduri's Disappointing Dilli Tale

By MovieTalkies.com, 04 October 2012 1.5 / 5

KLPD Review In Short
A young man and a woman get stranded one night in Delhi after they miss their last Metro and get embroiled in a high stakes crime…

KLPD Review Verdict
Sanjay Khanduri might have given a winner in Ek Chalis Ki Last Local but his second attempt at dark comedy is sure to leave you in a dark mood

KLPD Review Story Plot
Lokesh Duggal a.k.a Lucky (Vivek Oberoi) is a happy go lucky Delhi University student, whose life revolves around his attempts to score girls. However, when he gets on the last Metro train and agrees to do a favour for a mysterious 'damsel in distress' (Neha Dhupia), the unlucky Lucky gets sent on a roller-coaster ride around Delhi, being chased by cops as well as a bunch of criminals.

Thrown in the mix is Lovina (Mallika Sherawat), another mysterious female with a secret agenda, a Haryanvi goon Kaptan (Ashutosh Rana) and his bunch of crass brigands, a psychotic pizza delivery boy named Nunna (Anshuman Jha) and a posse of corrupt cops hell-bent on mayhem.

KLPD Review Performances
Vivek Oberoi, who has been away from the silver screen for a couple of years, does manage to put in a decent performance as the 'tharki Lucky', with his typical Delhi accent and mannerisms. However, merely that is not enough to salvage a film suffering from other short-comings and hence, the Saathiya star's efforts go in vain. Mallika Sherawat, who had displayed a decent comic timing in films like Welcome, puts in a disappointing performance and her 'bimbo' act with the irritating accent tends to get on your nerves. Ashutosh Rana as the Haryanvi bad boy does make you guffaw at certain points though Jha's psychotic pizza delivery boy act makes you think of just one word-weird!

KLPD Review Direction
This reviewer had immensely enjoyed Khanduri's debut movie Ek Chalis Ki Last Local, which is why KLPD comes as an utter shock. Though most of the situations in this movie are similar to the ones in the Abhay Deol starrer movie, KLPD suffers from a mixture of crass humour, weak screenplay, poor characterization and unimpressive dialogues. Moreover, the second half of the movie seems to drag on and on without remorse, which will surely aggravate your boredom.

KLPD Review Music
Apart from dhishkiyaon, which seems like a peppy number and appy budday, which has a very Delhi-Punjabi feel to it, the music of the movie is not really worth remembering…

KLPD Review Final Word
Without a doubt, Kismet Love Paisa Dilli is an avoidable fare…period!

A Bit Repetitive And Only For Punjabi Music Lovers

By Reflections, MovieTalkies.com, 15 September 2012 2.5 / 5

Kismet Love Paisa Dilli is a movie which many would regard as an outing that marks a comeback of sorts for it's actor as well as the director. From the lead protagonists Vivek Oberoi and Mallika Sherawat to the second time director Sanjay Khanduri (known for his Ek Chalis Ki Last Local - each of them is striving at being back on the big screen with a bigger role to play. With Amjad-Nadeem as the composer duo and Shabbir Ahmed as the lyricist, album has four original tracks with two remixes.

Album begins with Dhishkiyaon which has a big bang kick-start and reminds of Band Baaja Baaraat music. It's a peppy number and the choice of musical instruments takes you to Delhi weddings. Sonu Nigam has done a good job and after two hearings, one would start gyrating to the song. Ritu Pathak has supported Sonu behind the mike and has done an apt job. Though not quite a superhit in the making, it definitely has potential to bring you on the floor.

As the title of the movie suggests, KLPD is a movie about 'Dilli' and the song which arrives next erases any further doubts. Appy Budday (Videshi) is a song that screams of 'Dilli' and Punjabi. It's a fun filled song where lyrics are moulded to accommodate Delhi's colloquial Punjabi. Penned and sung by guest composer Santokh Singh, the song is entertaining. Moreover there is also Punjabi flavour intact, what with the song being aptly picturised on Maliika Sherawat.

'Desi version' of the song arrives next in the form of Appy Budday (Desi). This one takes you back to the Punjabi roots and brings on all the fun. It's a better composition when compared to the one heard earlier since it is more rooted. Lyrics too are amusing as comparing a 'Khatola' with 'Pajero' can only be done in Punjab and by a Punjabi.

One would agree that there is no Punjabi based fun filled album which is complete without Sukhwinder Singh. So he makes an entry with Jugaad with co-singer Mamta Sharma. Song sounds like any other Punjabi track though which you may have heard. This is the reason why despite heavyweight singers being on board, the song doesn't rise above the average mark since composition as well as lyrics are clichéd.

Finally, the King of Punjabi tracks - Mika Singh enters the album with Don't Fuff My Mind where Vivek Oberoi too has lent his voice intermittently. Lyricist Shabbir Ahmed has tried to capture the theme and essence of Delhi quite creatively for this theme-based track. There is a 'remix version' of the same song which is just a little faster. Created by the same team, there is nothing unusual about it for a listener to remember for long.

Overall, the album is dominated by Punjabi tracks, which would give it good audience up North. If you are a fan of Punjabi Bollywood music, you won't be disappointed though for the rest it may seem a tad repetitive and average.
