Three masters of Bollywood - Yash Chopra, Shah Rukh Khan and A.R Rahman - to come together is the rarest of rare phenomenon which is quite similar to a dreamcome true as the magic unfolds in Jab Tak Hai Jaan. This rare event has turned in a marvel with Gulzar saheb's brilliant work. This Yash Chopra venture is more of A.R Rahman as the two masters come up with a memorable outing.
The album starts with pleasant beats of
Challa that mixes smooth guitar with
Rabbi Shergill's sufiana voice while creating perfect magic. Poetic lyric that blends with Rabbi's voice and his guitar explore the depth of universe together. The track has amazing chorus, drums, high notes and all of that is enough to mark another milestone in Rahman's journey of excellence.
In the next track Saans the elegance of Yash Chopra fuses well with master work of A.R Rahman, hence resulting in a soft and melodious rendition. The violin and piano in background accompanied by musical troupe creates a perfect aura with rich flavor of music. This number has a lot of A R Rahman in it that shapes up as a light and relaxing number. The 'reprise version' of this song is quite similar to the previous one with only difference in beats that slows down as the track proceeds ahead.
The album moves ahead with a duet track
Ishq Shava (in the vocals of
Raghav Mathur and
Shilpa Rao) and it brings a strong essence of Arabic music fusing with Bollywood style of music. This track aims at indulging a sensual feel in order to aptly support its genre. Though this one seems to be a situational track, overall feel is not so catchy and it turns out to be a dull average track.
Thegrief of parting away from the beloved comes out very well in the track
Heer. The track opens with a touch of Punjabi folk that is strongly carried forward by very similar musical arrangements that complement each other quite well. The rhyming lyrics here have a depth of sea as the background poetry explores the depth of ocean, hence resulting in a soft, sad and soothing number that hasbeen delivered well by
Harshdeep Kaur. The track will make you feel lighter as you start feeling the song with your closed eyes, lying down on the couch in the corner of the room with a sense that would be further enhanced by lights going dim.
A semi-classical solo track in the vocals of Neeti Mohan comes up in Jiya Re which seamlessly blends techno instrumental music along with an unusual female rap that smoothens down in the later portions to result in a pleasant and soothing effect. This one is a cool outing where sound of claps dominate the music further, hence refreshing the mood of thelisteners.
A lot off
saaz accompanied by a beautiful
aawaz comes up in the track
Jab Tak Hain Jaan which has the vocals of
Javed Ali and Shakthishree Gopalan. The track starts on low notes and takes off with soft melodious voice that slowly climbs up the ladder of musical scale. The lyrics of the track are quite inspirational whereas the melody is the centrifugal force as everything else rotates and revolves around it. A typical Rahman creation, it has its trademark intact as the track changes the course of musical stream in the middle.
The 'poetic version' which is also the title track has been delivered, excelled and recited himself by the King Khan. This poetic piece is a true symbol of love, a beautiful heart and a mad lover who desires to love and die for his belovedtill eternity. Shahrukh has created an inspiration for love birds that scores a 'ton' on the green lush pitch of love.
Rahman has been the maestro of instrumental music and he recreates the magic in the instrumental music of Ishq Dance. The track opens up with Spanish beats as the master plays his heart, brain and talent out in the track. The music invites you to dance for your beloved riding on the cloud nine and holding her hands while forgetting the worldly rituals.
Overall, this one is an amazing experiment by masters of this wonderful cine-world. Each track offers something different and is unusual which makes the album quitespecial in its' own way. So hear it and fall in love.
