Housefull 2 SYNOPSIS

HOUSEFULL 2... The Dirty Dozen is the second super star packed installment in the HOUSEFULL franchise. It is the story of four fathers, four daughters and four prospective son-in-laws and as the second half of the tile suggests, they are the dirty dozen.

Each father wants his daughter to marry the richest son-in-law. Each daughter thinks she is marrying the richest son-in-law. Each son-in-law is pretending to be the richest son-in-law. Each character is flawed, unscrupulous and extremely entertaining.

However, none of these people can stand each other and all of them are under one roof, in one house as the first half of the title suggests - HOUSEFULL.

Dirty Dozen Bring Down The 'House'!

By MovieTalkies.com, 06 April 2012 3 / 5

Housefull 2 Review - In Brief: Sajid Khan's 'Dirty Dozen' (Housefull 2) are sure to make you laugh helplessly at their antics

Housefull 2 Review - Verdict: A 'leave brains at home' comedy that is worth one watch…

Housefull 2 Review - Story Plot: A pair of step-brothers (Rishi Kapoor and Randhir Kapoor), who are constantly at each other's throats, hire a matrimonial agent Aakhri Pasta (Chunkey Pandey) to find a rich son-in-law for their feisty daughters (Asin and Jacqueline Fernandez respectively). However, when Chintu (Rishi Kapoor) insults the father of a prospective son in law Jai (ShreyasTalpade), the latter along with his friend Jolly (Riteish Deshmukh) decide to avenge it by hiring a thief and conman Max (John Abraham) to exact revenge. When Max accidently latches onto the other Kapoor (Randhir Kapoor), the avenging duo decide to bring in another shady character Sunny (Akshay Kumar) to complete the job.

What follows is a roller coaster ride of misunderstandings and con games played by almost every character in the movie. Thrown in the plot are a stern business tycoon JD (Mithun Chakraborty), Batuk (Boman Irani), a police official and JD's best friend, a sleazy therapist named Vasna K Pujari (Ranjeet) and the stage is set for 'rolling in the aisles' kind of laughter.

Housefull 2 Review - Performances: Though the women have nothing much to do except pout and look pretty, the men, right from Akshay Kumar to John Abraham to Riteish Deshmukh to Mithun to Ranjeet make you guffaw with their inimitable performances.

Though on one hand, it does feel that Talpade doesn't get enough scope to exercise his sense of humour, one must say that John Abraham has come a long way since his Garam Masala' days and the hunky model turned actor almost matches upto Akshay Kumar (let me repeat…almost) when it comes to comic timing and dialogue delivery. However, it is the Khiladi who takes the cake and some of his scenes along with RiteishDeshmukh are some of the best in the movie. Critics of Akshay Kumar might sure complain that his 'smart alec' character in the movie is quite similar to his other characters in films like Mujhse Shaadi Karogi to Deewane Huye Paagal to Tees Maar Khan, but Kumar wears it like a comfortable old glove and fans of the Khiladi will once again get to see their star in form. The Deshmukh dude too knows his stuff and his character's habit of speaking in Marathi in moments of utmost stress is sure to make you erupt with laughter. As for the rest of the cast, Mithun Chakraborty, Boman Irani and Johnny Lever along with the Kapoor brothers perform well though Chunkey Pandey gets on your nerves with his 'Aakhri Pasta' act...

Housefull 2 Review - Direction: Usually, it is seen in Bollywood that a sequel to a film is not as impressive as the original film itself. However, with Housefull 2, director Sajid Khan manages to reverse the entire equation, with impressive results. Being a funny man himself, Sajid Khan knows how to tickle the audience's funny bone and with comically gifted actors like Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh and Johnny Lever, Khan is in his element. Though the humour might seem corny at times, the movie is a great watch if you do not go with much expectations. An Andaz Apna Apna it is not, but Housefull 2 can be relied on to provide entertainment. On the flip side, the movie suffers from some corny scenes and the initial few minutes of the film gets a tad boring, but once all the characters enter the fray, the humour quotient picks up with amazing speed. Though because of the presence of a lot of characters, the viewer might feel that some actors have not got enough justice, the film overall provides mirth by the truckloads.

Housefull 2 Review - Music: Songs like Anarkali disco chali, papa toh band bajaye and right now are already being hummed and the music of Housefull 2 is just like the movie-light-hearted and entertaining.

Housefull 2 Review - Final Word: All in all, Housefull 2 is the kind of film that one watches on a lazy weekend and chuckles on the way out…
