Krrish 3 Movie Review-In Short
A super-hero must battle an evil genius, who is hell-bent on destroying the world...
Krrish 3 Movie Review-Verdict
Though the special effects are good enough and Krrish 3 has a real ‘desi’ flavour, for those who have seen Hollywood superhero flicks, Krrish 3 might not seem so impressive.
Krrish 3 Movie Review-Story Plot
Krishna Mehra (Hrithik Roshan), who also moonlights as the superhero Krrish, can’t seem to hold onto a job (though what compels him to work as a security guard and a waiter in a restaurant is anybody’s guess) because of his superhero duties. However, despite this, he lives a happy life with his wife Priya (Priyanka Chopra) and father Rohit Mehra (Hrithik Roshan).
Meanwhile, in a faraway land, the mysterious and sinister Kaal (Vivek Oberoi) is planning to unleash evil on the planet through a team of mutants and a virus that he has created and it is up to our intrepid hero to don the mask and beat the bad guy and of course, save the world in the process.
Krrish 3 Movie Review-Performances
Hrithik Roshan plays Rohit and Krishna alias Krrish in this film and the light-eyed actor has put in everything into the role. Indeed, when he dons the black cape and mask, he seems to bring a different kind of energy on the screen. If that was not all, his ripped physique is sure to send women swooning.
Priyanka Chopra as his ladylove Priya does a decent job too, though she doesn’t have a fleshed out role. It is the villainous Kaal and Kaya (Vivek Oberoi and Kangana Ranaut), who entertain you with their delightfully wicked acts. Kangana as the gray mutant Kaya is an absolute treat and so is Kaal, who might not be as menacing as Oberoi had claimed to be (the actor had compared the role to that of Heath Ledger’s Joker in The Dark Knight), Kaal still manages to pull off the role of the evil genius.
Krrish 3 Movie Review-Direction
On one hand, Rakesh Roshan deserves kudos for making a film that is not just a typical action flick, but also sends across a message that there is a super-hero within all of us. This is the kind of thing that we do not get to see in all those Hollywood superhero flicks.
However, having said that, Krrish 3 is also cheesy as hell (maybe the kids love it like that....I don’t know). So, there are scenes like the one where Krrish saves a boy from falling down and gives him a lecture on good and morality and that is something that is going to make grown-ups yawn big time. Moreover, some of the casting is quite unintentionally funny as you see character actors, usually seen playing constables and milkmen in other movies, play scientists and airline pilots in this one.
Last but not the least, the main gripe against the movie is the way it unabashedly rips off so much from Hollywood films. The mutants and even the wheelchair-bound Kaal (who is a combination of Professor X and Magneto) will remind you of characters seen in the X-Men series. No doubt, the special effects are decent enough and the climax fight scene between Krrish and Kaal is quite impressive (though again, it might remind you of Man of Steel), but when a film lacks novelty, it seems to fog up every other praise-worthy element.
Krrish 3 Movie Review-Final Word
Kids, fans of the Krrish series and people unaware about the ‘X-Men’ series are sure to enjoy this ‘desi’ superhero flick...
