Gangster is a violent love triangle, where Kangana Ranaut plays a bar dancer working in Mumbai. She falls in love with Shiney Ahuja who plays the goon. Shiney is escaping from the cops, and flees to Mauritius himself, sending Kangana to Seoul.
Depressed with the separation, she takes to the bottle and lands up an alcoholic. Emran Hashmi who plays a singer in a night club, takes care of her, and no prizes for guessing, they fall in love.
When bad man Shiney comes to Seoul and sees his lady love with another man, he beats up Emran, and promises Kangana that he will change his lifestyle for her. But it’s too late, as Kangana realizes she is carrying Emran’s child. Good man Emran tells Kangana to handover Shiney to the police so they can get married. All isn’t as simple as it seems, and the climax comes with an unpredicted twist.
On the whole the film is fast paced and keeps the interest alive. Performance-wise, Emran Hashmi shows his maturity as an actor, and Shiney Ahuja shows a powerful screen presence. Even debutant Kangana Ranaut shows promise.
