Bluffmaster SYNOPSIS

Roy (Abhishek Bachchan) is a professional conman, who has raised his work to the level of an art. The only true thing he has is his love for Simmi (Priyanka Chopra) – someone who is so rooted, honest and sincere, that he can’t bring himself to tell her the reality of who he is. But when his past catches up with him, she cannot forgive him for the deceit their relationship is built on. He loses her forever. That’s when Aditya Srivastav (Riteish Deshmukh) enters the picture. He is the counterpoint to everything that Roy is – as frantic as Roy is calm, as dumb as Roy is smart, as messy and untidy as Roy is smooth. They have only one thing in common – Aditya is a conman too. At least he thinks of himself as one. In Roy’s book, he’s an embarrassment. But one that won’t go away! Despite himself, or maybe to take his mind off Simmi, he agrees to teach Dittu the rules of the game. In that process, he melts and warms up to the boyish charm of his ‘student’. That’s when his world is spun upside down – he is forced to face facts that are a slap in the face. Suddenly Roy, who prides himself on being able to cheat anyone and anything, is pushed into a corner from where there is no exit. For the man who wears so many masks, he is now left with no alternative but to take them all off and finally reveal himself – if he is still there. With an outstanding and innovative musical score featuring a dazzling array of international and local talent, Bluffmaster! Promises an exhilarating roller coaster ride full of laughs, excitement and emotions that are quite unprecedented.

Go Watch It: We are Con-fident about it!

By Vikas Mohan, MovieTalkies Desk, 17 December 2005 2 / 5

Lets hope this is the season's last of the 'inspired' flicks. Bluffmaster, 'inspired' from The Sting and Do Aur Do Paanch, stars Abhishek Bachchan who plays a conman. Though sincere about his feelings for Priyanka Chopra, at their engagement, his antics are exposed, and when Priyanka realises his true profession, she walks out on the engagement and leaves Abhishek devastated. Riteish plays another con-guy, but is not as street smart as Abhishek, and takes on to working under him to learn the tricks of the trade better. After a drinking bout, Abhishek faints, and is examined by a doctor (Boman Irani) who tells him that he is suffering from brain cancer and has only three months to live, which works as a blessing in disguise for him somewhere, as Priyanka is reconciled with Abhishek when she comes to know of his condition. Riteish has his own sob story to share with Abhishek, and he tells him about his aggrieved condition which was brought about at the hands of Nana Patekar. He (Nana Patekar) plays a character who was Riteish's father's business partner, and had cheated on him, landing Riteish on the road. So now his ultimate 'mission' is to take revenge on Nana, with the only glitch being that Nana Patekar happens to be a powerful gangster. Where production values are good, Himman Dhamija's cinematography is simply brilliant. But the music in spite of having a good tempo and an appeal for the youth has no hit number. The film has moments of entertainment in some scenes, but the trouble is with the script, which has far too many loopholes. Performance-wise, Abhishek Bachchan has managed to pull off a challenging role very well. Riteish too does a good job, and Nana Patekar scores with his mere presence

This is an interesting movie, that begins like any other movie, but in the last 10minutes of the movie there is a huge surprise, but to be honest, this suprise let me down. It wasn't as good as i thought it would be, but hats off to Abhishek and Ritiesh, fanastic performances.
