Holiday is a musical love story inspired from the cult classic Dirty Dancing, where Gulshan Grover plays a doctor who goes to Goa with his family on a vacation. Anahita Uberoi plays his wife, and Onjalee Nair and Nauheed Cyrusi are their daughters. Nauheed plays a happy go lucky and outgoing kind of a girl, where as Onjalee is much more reserved and demure mainly because she had recently failed in her exams, and the notion haunts her that she will always be a failure.
Dino Morea works as the dance instructor at the hotel and he also performs. Kashmira Shah plays Dino’s colleague, who is pregnant with the hotel owner’ nephew’s child. Onjalee is persuaded to take her place as Dino’s partner, as Kashmira is in serious trouble as she goes for abortion to a quack. Gulshan saves her life and Dino takes the blame on himself as the lover who brought Kashmira into trouble. Gulshan forbids Onjalee from keeping any contact with Dino and his friends. But learning dancing from Dino had changed Onjolee’s life. Dino had advised her to listen to her heart, and she ends up falling in love with Dino against the wishes of her father. Are they united? The answer comes at the climax.
Production values are very good, and the Goan locations are well exploited by cinematographer Anshuman Mahaley. Ranjit Barot’s music adds to the outstanding choreography by Bosco Caesar and Naimish Brahmbhatt.
Performance-wise, Dino Morea is superb as he excels as a dancer. Considering it is her first film, Onjolee Nair is fair. Gulshan Grover gives a polished portrayal. As the director, Pooja Bhatt does a fair job.
