In one of the scenes of Race 3, Salman Khan’s character Sikandar Singh quips, “Unfortunately, there is no cure of stupidity” and it seems as if this statement was meant for the film, its cast and makers. Race by Abbas-Mustan was quite decent, while the sequel was slightly tolerable, but the third outing in the series is so bad that it is my duty to warn fans of the franchise about it through my review.

race-2Shamsher Singh (Anil Kapoor) is an international arms dealer operating out of a desert island named Al-Shifa, where he stays with his twin kids Sanjana (Daisy Shah) and Suraj (Saqib Saleem) and step-son Sikandar (Salman Khan), who is Shamsher’s go-to guy for tricky operations, much to the chagrin of the twins, who can’t stand their step-brother.

race-3When Sanjana and Suran decide to undermine Sikandar’s power by conspiring to create a rift between him and his protégé Yash (Bobby Deol) by using femme fatale Jessica (Jacqueline Fernandez), it opens a Pandora’s Box of double-crosses and betrayals. Will Sikandar manage to vanquish his enemies and save the day? Watch the film (NOT) to find out…

race-4At the outset, let me be brutally candid and say that Race 3 is one of the worst films I have seen… and I have seen a few! Every actor from Salman Khan to Saqib Saleem and everyone in between has a perpetually smug expression on his/her face, irrespective of the situation. If that was not all, the dialogues are so unintentionally funny that you will end up choking on your popcorn and soda throughout the film (for example, for some reason, Saqib’s character addresses everyone, including his sister, as ‘bro’). To add to this, the situations have no logic, the double-crosses seem to have been thought of by someone on weed and the action scenes are straight out of a video-game. Ohh yes, before I forget, the songs are crappy and the foot-tapping Race title track has been butchered mercilessly too!

race-6The USP of the Race series has always been its plot, but the makers have fumbled the ball terribly in this case too when it comes to Race 3. I do agree that the makers have spared no expense when it comes to swanky cars and exotic locations and the sharp suits and trendy costumes, but all this is of no avail if the plot has nothing to offer in terms of intrigue and entertainment and this is exactly what has happened with Race 3.

Even if you are a die-hard Salman fan, I implore you to stay away from this abomination because a big budget and an ensemble cast doesn’t always guarantee a good time…
