Inkaar Movie Review: Intriguing Cat-And-Mouse Game
Inkaar Movie Review-In Short:
A cat and mouse game ensues between a cop and a criminal when a rich businessman's driver's son gets kidnapped by a mastermind, who mistakes the driver's son for the heir.
Inkaar Movie Review-Verdict:
A high-octane thriller, Inkaar was definitely ahead of its time in terms of plot and screenplay.
Inkaar Movie Review-Story Plot:
Haridas Chaudhary (Shreeram Lagoo) is a rich businessman, who dotes on his family members comprising his wife, son and sister Geeta (Vidya Sinha). Chaudhary is also held in high regard by his staff, especially driver Sitaram, whose son is loved like a family member.
During a marriage anniversary ceremony, when a mysterious kidnapper named Raj Singh (Amjad Khan) abducts Sitaram's son after confusing him for Choudhary's son, the businessman is initially reluctant to cough up the ransom money and the cops are summoned.
The dashing and brilliant CID Inspector Amar Gill (Vinod Khanna) is assigned the case and as the cop starts unraveling the mystery, it becomes clear that the culprit is not a common criminal, but someone who has planned the entire crime rather meticulously. Meanwhile, Haridas has other things to worry about-like the Board Of Directors of his company, who are conspiring behind his back. If that was not all, Amar seems to have a history with Geeta, which Haridas is blissfully unaware of.
Inkaar Movie Review-Performances:
Vinod Khanna is as dashing as ever and his screen presence and personality helps him play the role of a crack investigator quite effectively. Amjad Khan as Raj Singh has a menacing aura and his evil cackle and snarl will surely send a chill up everyone's spine. Vidya Sinha doesn't get much to do but Dr. Shreeram Lagoo, with his natural acting skills and his persona, lends dignity to his character.
Inkaar Movie Review-Direction:
At the outset, it should be said that like all good thrillers, the film doesn't waste time in getting to the point and once it does, the plot hurtles forward like a speedy train. The director should be credited for not losing track of the plot, even when dealing with sub-plots like Amar's past with Geeta and the business problems that Haridas is facing at work. Moreover, though the director makes no attempts to keep the identity of the antagonist in suspense, the cat-and-mouse game that ensues is sure to keep one enthralled till the very end.
Inkaar Movie Review-Final Word:
If you are a fan of the James Hadley Chase series or other thriller novels, Inkaar will surely make your day…
