I, Me Aur Main Movie Review: Average ‘Coming Of Age’ Story
I, Me Aur Main Movie Review-In Short: An insensitive and selfish man turns over a new leaf after realizing the errors of his ways
I, Me Aur Main Movie Review-Verdict: Though I, Me Aur Main could be termed as a one-time watch, there is nothing great about it either.
I, Me Aur Main Movie Review-Story Plot: Ishaan Sabarwal (John Abraham) has it all- a great job, a beautiful girlfriend and a doting mum. However, Ishaan is a self-obsessed cad, who cannot think beyond himself and ends up being thrown out of the house by his live-in girlfriend Anushka (Chitrangda Singh). Moreover, he gets no sympathy from his own sister Shivani (Mini Mathur), who accuses him of being a selfish and insensitive man.
Taking up a house on rent, Ishaan runs into Gauri (Prachi Desai), a bubbly 'girl next door' (literally), who develops a close friendship with him. Even as Ishaan also starts liking her, he gets to know that his ex-girlfriend Anushka is pregnant with his child, which complicates the situation, to say the least.
What happens next? Watch the film to find out.
I, Me Aur Main Movie Review-Performance: John Abraham as always, looks good on the screen and acts passably too. However, we feel the character was more suited for an actor like Akshay Kumar, who is adept at playing the charmingly insincere rogue. Chitrangda Singh too does a decent job and is the ultimate eye-candy. However, Prachi Desai goes a bit overboard with the 'bubbly girl' act. Zarina Wahab and Mini Mathur as Ishaan's mother and sister respectively, perform decently.
I, Me Aur Main Movie Review-Direction: For a debut director, Kapil Sharma has not done a bad job as such. However, the screenplay seems quite sketchy. For example, the selfish Ishaan downright refuses to pay the milkman, who turns up at the apartment shared with his lady love as his logic is that he doesn't drink milk, so he is not obliged to pay up. Despite this, his long suffering girlfriend not only lets it go but also has plans to tie the knot with the man! Besides this, Gauri, who has just started to get to know Ishaan, is suddenly all ready to move with him to Paris with nary a moment's thought, which somehow seems far-fetched. The way Ishaan suddenly turns over a new leaf also doesn't seem convincing enough.
I, Me Aur Main Movie Review-Final Word: If you are a fan of any of the actors from the lead cast, it wouldn't hurt to catch this movie. If you are looking for a honest 'coming of age' story, this flick might not really meet your expectations.
